CyberSecurity -Spotlight on IOT Forensics

IoT Slam 2020 Session: CyberSecurity -Spotlight on IOT Forensics

Session Abstract:

The Session describes about the IoT forensics, branch of digital forensics, deals with crimes related to IoT. It deals with identification, analysis, processing, extraction, preservation, processing, documenting, and presenting the evidence in court of law of a digital device that uses IoT. This requires investigation of connected devices, sensors & data stored on the cloud. This is more complex in practical than theory. The required evidence could be collected from home automation sensors, automobile sensors, wearable devices.
This session focuses on the privacy, security, and forensics challenges in IoT environments along with innovative solution that flags the way towards secure and forensically sound investigations. IoT Forensics Architectural Layers and IoT Forensics Frameworks would be discussed. It describes on how the evidences can be collected from various IOT Devices using digital forensics technology and how it will be helpful in digital investigation of crimes or cyber crimes. The integration of IoT Forensics, Network Forensics, Mobile Forensics with Cloud Forensics for successful investigations of IoT devices in cracking crimes would be explained in detail.
For example, the IoT environment is really a source of potential evidence for any the crime case for digital investigation. This talk focuses on intelligent techniques & tips to investigate IoT-related crimes. It aims on IoT identification approach in a crime scene that is legally valid & certain data breaches or crimes happening that can be investigated using IoT forensics. It also emphasizes the capabilities of forensics investigator required to deal with IoT Forensics for cracking crimes across any domain. To conclude presenter would discuss compelling cases studies on IoT forensics and how it has helped in investigating crimes of major security and forensics issues along with potentially promising solutions despite of challenges.
