Session Abstract:
IoT has come a long way in a relatively short space of time. And demand is higher than ever. There are an estimated 13 billion connected IoT devices around the globe in 2023 and it is expected there will be 25.4 billion IoT devices by 2030 (Finance Online). Worldwide IoT spending is expected to be worth over $1 trillion by 2024 (Global Data). Still, companies small and large struggle to effectively execute successful IoT projects and many even fail to get their ideas further than the drawing board stage. Starting small can often help overcome business challenges such as lack of technical skills, budget constraints, corporate buy-in, as well as much needed milestone wins in order to get approvals for future projects. Using inexpensive IoT devices, product development teams can quickly design and create proof of concept solutions that utilize advanced analytics to address many use cases throughout different industries. Solutions can be easily developed on-premise, or on secure cloud hosted servers. With a wide array of sensors add-ons available, these inexpensive, cross-platform microcontroller devices utilize a simple and clear programming environment, open source and extensible software and hardware.
