Which Internet of Things (IoT) projects should you implement and how can you ensure your project and strategy is successful? Matt Hatton, Founding Partner of Transforma Insights, and former CEO of Machina Research, will share the answers, based on extensive new research on real-world IoT deployments.
In his recent book ‘The Internet of Things Myth’ Matt Hatton shared some of the slips and trips that befell organisations as they tried to implement IoT. Poorly conceived products, immature ecosystem, technology gaps and lack of strategic thinking were just a few reasons why many IoT projects never went past the proof-of-concept stage. IoT has focused almost exclusively on simple ‘low hanging fruit’ based on streamlining existing operational processes. Few organisations have truly embraced the transformational change possible with IoT.
With his new company Transforma Insights, Matt and his team have built an extensive database of IoT deployments, based on the Industrial Internet Consortium’s Project Explorer. Over 200 projects have been assessed against those solution characteristics, allowing our analysts to derive meaningful trends to help feed decision making. During this session Matt will share learnings from those real-world experiences. This includes: Which projects are fastest to deploy and have the quickest pay back? What are the risk profiles of IoT deployments? What are the characteristics of successful IoT deployments? Which vertical sectors have found success in which areas. Armed with this information you will be able to make informed decisions on what IoT projects to choose and how to deploy them.
Furthermore, Matt will also share his views from over 10 years focused on the IoT on what makes a successful deployment, and how to avoid the bear-traps.
