Optimize the IoT Ecosystem with SD-WAN

Session Abstract:

A world that was hit hard by Covid two years ago.
A world that learned to stay connected and function virtually.
This world today is in a new normal that is energised by the power of IoT backed by networks.

In this world, more and more users are coming in from different locations trying to get to more applications housed in many clouds. These users are coming across different connection types and demand a great experience. Also, the revolution brought in by IoT aims at creating a global system where devices, and even whole cities, can exchange data and operate seamlessly. Though, this revolution also brings up the question of security.
As the world became digital, the threat landscape evolved as well. The digital transformation that has resulted in the adoption of multi-cloud access and the proliferation of IoT applications and devices has also increased the attack surface, exposing organisations to new security vulnerabilities.

Here, SD-WAN comes as a saviour and helps build cyber resilience for businesses. SD-WAN is a cloud-delivered overlay WAN architecture. It provides the ability to connect any WAN location to multiple cloud platforms or any other enterprise site, increasing connection speeds, enhancing connection reliability, and lowering costs. It provides the real-time visibility and stability that is needed to control IoT devices over a global network. SD-WAN can segment network traffic end to end, protecting the business against data exfiltration and insider threats. It offers security capabilities such as application-aware enterprise firewall, intrusion prevention, DNS layer enforcement, and URL filtering.

SD-WAN plays a foundational role as businesses continue to embrace IoT. However, choosing the right SD-WAN platform is critical to optimising the company’s operations. In this session, let us understand how SD-WAN is the backbone of an organisation’s digital transformation strategy and helps scale IoT initiatives quickly and securely.

Speaker:

RICHA DAGA
SOFTWARE ENGINEER at CISCO

With a Master of Technology in Networks and Networked Systems, Richa Daga is as technical as you can get. She is working as a Software Engineer at Cisco and has vast work experience in the telecom and optical networking domain. Prior to this, she worked at Ciena and has developed cutting-edge products supporting data traffic up to terabits of speed. Her passion lies in technologies and chipsets that connect the world.

She was the chairperson of the IEEE Women in Engineering group of her alma mater and is a core member of the ‘She Speaks Bureau’ global initiative, supporting the cause of Diversity and Inclusion. She has been a host and judge at national level women hackathons and has technical papers published in national conferences, receiving the best orator award at many gatherings. She received an outstanding student volunteer award in the Women in Engineering field in AGM-2011 by the Delhi section of IEEE, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Richa was a speaker at the past IoT Slams where she shared her insights regarding 5G, IoT, Smart Grids, Edge Cloud, Submarine Networks, and optical technologies. She is also a technical author at global Enterprise Viewpoint Publication and IEEE Newsletter for their Smart Cities special edition. Richa believes in investing in knowledge and sharing with other technical communities globally. She is based out of New Delhi, India.
