Bio
Dr. Michelle Hernandez is a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Allergy & Immunology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Medicine. Dr. Hernandez is the Director of the NC Child Health Research Network and Faculty Director of the Clinical Research Unit for the UNC Children’s Research Institute. Dr. Hernandez’s clinical work is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of difficult-to-control asthma across the lifespan. She is funded by the NIH and the NSF to identify novel interventions for difficult-to-treat asthma, including the use of mobile health technology for early detection of asthma exacerbations. She also leads a pediatric specialty care telehealth program within the NC Children’s Hospital and has partnered with rural primary care clinics in NC to increase access to virtual specialty care appointments throughout the state.
