The erosion of margins in manufacturing consumer devices in world markets drives OEMs to seek new ways to manufacture, distribute, and maintain their products. Embedding products with cellular connectivity including communication protocols is the Holy Grail.
A product with universal mobile connectivity turns a single product sale into a life-cycle stream of recurring service revenues and can boost an OEM’s financial growth and profitability. Further, after-sales connected services provide new ways to maintain products, serve customers and generate additional revenues.
Spirent has entered into a contract with a tier 1 electronics manufacturer enabling the OEM to embed Spirent’s Embedded SIM operating system software to produce a smart tracker product for the global consumer market. Spirent provides mobile data connectivity for the OEM’s products which activate devices automatically anywhere in the world, while its subscription management cloud enables the OEM to remotely switch a fleet of devices to another mobile network based on the geographic location of where the devices have been shipped.
This presentation will address the full case study of how the OEM has reduced manufacturing costs and secured long product life-cycle revenues globally for its Spirent-enabled IoT products.
