Women in IoT CoE presents: Industry Movers and Shakers – Transportation and Smart Cities

Session Abstract:

Join us for the second of four in our 2023 series: “Industry Movers and Shakers”. Throughout the year, you’ll hear from women who are illuminating IoT across industries. In this session, thought leaders will explore real-world use cases focused on transforming Transportation and Smart Cities. Join us to learn how Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and Computer Vision (CV) play a pivotal role in this transformation. Panelists include industry experts from Kavi Global, Town of Cary, and SAS.

Speakers:

Michele Null is an evangelist for IoT, Edge, artificial intelligence and open hybrid cloud. She works closely with customers and partners to understand market requirements and then works in conjunction with product management and engineering to ensure technology and solutions meet key market needs and will help drive business value. She collaborates with partners to support strategic joint go-to-market initiatives in target verticals. Michele enjoys being an active member of global IoT consortiums including the IoT Community, serving on the Board of Directors and also as the Co-Chair of the Women in IoT Center of Excellence since 2019. She is an active member of RIoT, serving as a partnership leader and member of the Founders’ Roundtable. Michele was included on CBT’s list of Top 25 IIoT Influencers in 2021. She was also recognized as the IoT Community MVP for her work in 2020. After graduating from the University of Virginia, Michele began her journey in the technology field, which has spanned over two decades. Prior to joining Red Hat in 2021, Michele spent 7 years at SAS in various roles involving IoT go-to-market strategy. She became one of the initial team members of the IoT Division, which she helped charter. She led product and partner marketing within the IoT Division. Michele also held various roles during her 10-year tenure at IBM, including product management, product marketing and program management.

SASEmily Dilday is the Principal Business Solutions Manager for SAS’ IoT Division, driving the successful engagement of partner-driven solutions powered by SAS technology. Emily orchestrates a cross-functional team of R&D, customer advisory, support & enablement, analytics, and marketing experts to facilitate channel partner success. She also leads the development and strategy for the Microsoft Azure/SAS IoT partnership. Prior to joining SAS, Emily spent over 20 years at Cisco, leading teams in Information Technology, Enterprise Information Security, IoT/Network Security and Customer Experience. She holds a B.S. in Math and Computer Science from Meredith College, an M.B.A. from Pfeiffer University and has completed professional certification in project management from Stanford University. She is a licensed Project Management Professional, certified by the Project Management Institute. As a Tech and IoT industry leader, Emily is passionate about supporting women in STEM and helping students enter STEM careers through mentorship and advocacy. She is a member of the IoT Community Women in Technology Center of Excellence and volunteers as a group mentor for AI4ALL. In her free time, Emily enjoys spending time with her family, travelling and boating.

Katy Salamati, PhD, MBA, is a Jenkins MBA graduate focused on Finance, Entrepreneurship & Technology commercialization. PhD in Transportation Engineering. I work with government and commercial transportation, logistics, and supply chain agencies applying advanced analytics & AI to help solve their challenges. My audience is secretaries, directors, CIOs, and CEOs of such agencies, public and private, as well as state elected officials (senators and representatives) and policymakers. I work on transportation and infrastructure technology initiatives including connected and autonomous vehicles, smart cities, freight, seaports and airports, tollways, transit, rail, safety, finance, and revenue.

Nicole Raimundo proudly serves as the Towy of Cary’s Chief Information Officer. Nicole was recently awarded the North Carolina Technology Association’s 2016 Public Sector CIO of the Year Award. She is a passionate technology leader with both private and public sector experience. Nicole promotes the value of partnerships and innovative thinkers in government while continuously pursuing new models of civic innovation for collaborative citizen facing projects. Nicole serves on the Advisory Boards for Wake Technical Community College and Smart Cities Connect as well as is the Chair of the CIO Regional Triangle J Council of Government. Before coming to the Town of Cary, Nicole served as the Chief Operating Officer for the City of Raleigh where she was responsible for the creation and direction of the award winning Open Data program for the City of Raleigh. Previous to that, Nicole spent 15+ years in the private sector leading both onshore and off shore development teams.

SASJuthika Khargharia, Ph.D is a Principal Solutions Architect working for SAS’ Internet of Things Division specializing in machine learning, deep learning and artificial intelligence. In her role, she assists customers in defining their business problems and uses SAS advanced analytics solutions to help them reach their business goals and objectives. Juthika holds a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from the University of Colorado. Her Ph.D. research work consisted of designing observations, collecting and analyzing low signal-to-noise image data obtained from ground based telescopes to determine black hole masses in our Galaxy.
