The IoTness of a smart building

Session Abstract:

The quintessential “genius” building is one that presents a person-centric seamless experience enabled by interoperable devices, systems and applications that exchange actionable data as needed. IoT devices and applications facilitate data capture and actuation, bringing bricks and mortar to digital life. This session will discuss three compelling use cases that realize TIA’s holistic vision of the Smart Building.

Speakers:

Clarence Reynolds has built a career as an Emmy-winning journalist and broadcast professional. He brings more than two decades of broadcast production, on-air hosting and senior communications experience to the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA). Prior to joining TIA, Clarence worked as a News Anchor at NBC Atlanta and FOX Indianapolis. For TIA, Clarence designs and implements digital event communication strategies to educate stakeholders. He also authors and edits content for a variety of events and narrative programming, including live panels, one- on- one interviews, roundtables, case studies, documentaries, and explanatory videos.

SASBrad Klenz – Distinguished IoT Analytics Architect, SAS. His responsibilities include the design and integration of technologies required by SAS’ Analytical Solutions. His recent projects include Streaming Data Analysis for the Energy sector, Customer Intelligence, and Asset Performance Analytics. He received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from North Carolina State University.

Leonard Lee is the managing director and founder of neXt Curve. With over 25 years as a management consultant and industry analyst, Mr. Lee is a former managing partner with Gartner Inc. and associate partner with IBM and PwC who has advised and delivered emerging technology and business solutions to leading enterprises across a broad range of industries including entertainment & media, telecommunications, financial services, energy, pharmaceutical, and consumer and commercial high-tech. Leonard has extensive experience helping Global 500 companies drive business innovation and value through digital technologies, and has helped top technology vendors with their go-to-market strategies for their digital products and services. His specialties include IT & business strategy and governance, digital business innovation, market strategy & analytics, emerging technology and ICT industry research, business transformation & change management, program management, enterprise architecture and M&A/divestitures. Leonard is an executive fellow with the Drucker School of Management’s Center for the Future of Organization and is also an influencer on LinkedIn with over 180,000 followers and a network of over 8,000 Global 500 executives.

Mr. Todd Boucher is a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) and certified by the United States Department of Energy as a Data Center Certified Energy Practitioner (DCEP).  He is a member of the BICSI Intelligent Building Standard Committee and one of the contributing authors of the ANSI-BICSI 007-2017 Intelligent Building Standard.  He also serves on the Telecommunications Industry Association’s (TIA) Smart Building Committee as a contributor to the forthcoming Smart Building Certification.Todd Boucher is the Principal and Founder of Leading Edge Design Group and holds Bachelors of Science degrees in Business Administration and Management of Information Systems from the University of New Hampshire.  Todd has extensive experience leading the strategy and design development efforts for complex technology and data center projects in the public and private sector.  Since founding Leading Edge Design Group, Todd has helped shape how organizations leverage computing and technology systems to deliver services to their users with speed, resiliency, and scale.  He has worked with clients like New Balance, Harvard University, AstraZeneca, Carbonite, UPenn, Boston Red Sox, Fidelity, Boston Children’s Hospital, Verizon Wireless, and many more.
